| Commission a deer painting today. Ocean's Bridge has a great collection of deer paintings and many other animal paintings to choose from. In celebration of the deer we have a brief history of the deer below.
History of the Deer
Deer are part of the Aritodactyla order; which are even-toed animals and include cows, pigs and giraffes, amongst others.
A number of broadly similar animals from related families within the order Artiodactyla (even-toed ungulates) are often also called deer. Male deer grow and shed new antlers each year, as opposed to antelope, which are in the same order and bear a superficial resemblance to deer physically, but are permanently horned.
Adult Red deer are usually between 1.7 to 2.6 m ( 5 ½ to 8 ½ ft) in length and a full-grown stag stands about 1.2 m (4ft) at the shoulder, while hinds are slightly smaller, at 1 m. Adult Fallow deer are 1.3 to 1.7 m (4 5 ½ ft) in length and a buck (male) stands 85 to 110 cm (nearly 3 to 3 ½ ft) at the shoulder.
If there is a particular deer painting that you are looking for that is not listed here, please let us know. We at Ocean's Bridge are constantly adding new pieces and new reproductions to our site, so check back often. Our artists are busy creating more reproductions every day!
